What is TV Streaming
Our televisions still use antennas on the roof. But more and more now the shows we want to watch are streamed using the internet. On demand content is the future of television and televisions need good WiFi and internet to work.
How to Fix WiFi in Shepparton
So at the end of a long day, you finally get a chance to sit back and put on a show, and you are stuck with the buffering symbol spinning in the middle of the screen. Frustrating right? So what do we do when we get a ‘you are not connected to the internet’ message?
Firstly, do not try to reconnect your TV to the internet straight away. Instead follow some of the below quick tips that may help you fix wifi in shepparton without too much drama.
WiFi Speedtest
Firstly, we need to understand what speeds you are getting. And this means you should know what you should be getting on a daily basis. That way you know when it changes.
Check your internet bill for which broadband plan you are on. It should say a plan speed (example 50mbps) and an ‘average primetime speed’ (example 40-44mbps).
Now we need an app on your phone so we can run the test. Go to your appstore or Google Play and download Speedtest by Ookla.
Instructions for testing
- Stand 1m away from your modem and run a speedtest. Take note of the speed. It should be the same as your plan’s average primetime speed or very similar. If it’s not, restart your modem and wait 15 minutes and then test again. If still not correct, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
- For the second test, go and put your phone next to your TV or the device you are trying to use, and then run the second test. This second test should be the same, or within 1mbps of the first test.
This is tricky and we appreciate that. But the is worth it and if you are unable to find the time to do this yourself, contact Jason’s TV and we will be there to help you through this process.
Following the steps above, we will find out what speed you should be getting and we’ll be well on our way to fix WiFi in Shepparton.
If the speeds are the same
If the speeds are the same (ie the same at the TV location as they are when you are standing near your modem).
1. Firstly, you can turn off your TV (unplug from the power) and wait 2 minutes. Now plug it back into power and turn it back on. Wait another minute or so and then try your view again.
2. Secondly, you can unplug your modem (unplug the power cord) and then wait 2 minutes. Now plug it back in and wait 10 minutes for it to reconnect. Now try the TV again.
